Ugh, it feels like there hasn't been surf for MONTHS!!! So that it doesn't seem like I have completely given up on the surfing aspect of this blog, I'll post some rando pics taken during the wildfires of 07 (told you it was rando). It was a small day, but the Santa Ana winds blowing offshore made up for what was lacking in size.

El Salvador Part II: El Zonte, KM59, and Around Sunzal
Here are the pics from the other spots around Sunzal and el Costa del Balsamo.
We'll start with injury#1 (others less impressive and not included on the blog), sustained when I botched a duck dive and got hit in the face with my own board:
This is La Bocana, the local's spot, which broke right outside our window:

The lineup at El Zonte (no, it's not always this empty. Far from it):

Went to Sunset Saturday It was peeling, but really crowded. Almost took out a kid a couple times. Got bored Saturday afternoon and decided to drive down to San Diego. Surfed Oceanside on our way home on Sunday. Looked good, but figured out quickly that it only LOOKED good. Guess that's why there was nobody out.
Meanwhile, I think I may have forgotten how to surf...

Love is in the air...
Woke up too late this morning, and it was really choppy, but still got some good rides. A random saw me waiting out a huge set, and said "up and over!" trying to motivate me. Then got all embarrassed & apologized when I beat him out to the lineup. We found a nice spot without any other people (sandbar in front of 33rd seems to be working well right now) and I got an awesome right. It was pretty big & I was doing what Taj B says, using your arms to point which direction you want to go. And every time I thought the wave was going to flatten out & die, it peaked up again; felt like it lasted forever. Gave up when about 20 massive waves came through & my hands were to frozen too paddle. B got this pic of me on one of my first waves:
